As you all know, the Johns are working on their 12th album
(as so said by this article)any way, what kind of music are you looking forward to? Are you looking for some of their old experimental music like from Lincoln? Or their newer modern pop rock music from the Spine?

I'm looking forward to the new album, I'm sure the Johns won't let us down whatever they produce ^_^ question is when is it out? how soon is soon? are they gonna tour?

They're still in the middle of developing it.
I'm just looking forward to some cool new music; I just hope they aren't losing their touch and music writing ability just quite yet.

Neither. I'd hope for more John Henry or Factory Showroom type stuff. The older stuff turns me off because it's just... too weird for me (Boat of Car, Cage and Aquarium), and the new stuff is trying too hard to be poppy and gimmicky (Prevenge, Mr. Xcitement). I really like the happy medium: weird pop rock (Till My Head Falls Off, A Self Called Nowhere, countless others).
I have to admit, I really like what I've heard of the Venue Songs, so I'm hopeful that that sound carries over to the new album.

I'm so excited about the new album. I mean oh-my-god-I'm-falling-out-of-my-chair excitement.
Anyway...The Spine was great, but so was Lincoln. I guess maybe I like Lincoln a little better than all the other albums. Even though it was a little weird. But I'm sure that whatever They surprise us with will be wonderful. :)

Aha, it seems as though my "new album" news buzz was proved true by the newsletter that was sent out. I thought that The Spine was a great album for TMBG. It was more consistent than Mink Car, which besides that fact had some very nice songs. For the next album...what would I like? Hmmm, it's a hard choice, because current TMBG is good enough, but a return to more of the sound focusing on John and John would be nice as well. I'm for what the person said who mentioned a somewhat compromise of styles, ala "Metal Detector", "Bangs", "Bastard Wants To Hit Me", etc. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be gold like every other TMBG album. I'm hoping for Flood-ish or Factory Showroom-ish stuff. But anything'll be fine.

I have seen some of Venue songs on www.tmbg.com, and also at their gig back in May. I like "Trees" best so far. And I look forward to getting "Stone Pony".
I hope their album is just like "Lincoln". Or "Factory Showroom". I hope there's no rap type music on there because I hate rap with a vengeance and "Mr Xcitement" didn't do anything for me. I'm pretty sure there will be enough good music on there to make me think getting it was worthwhile.
