Title: Mohair
Description: I just saw them

Just went to see Mohair live ... and they were pretty damn fine.

I saw one of the support acts, can't name em, but they really did rank in my bottom few ever performances, though not for lack of effort.

Mohair, then. Imagine the singer from The Darkness decided to front Squeeze, backed by the keyboard player from Madness, doing Libertines meets Beatles. And thrown in a touch of Dodgy (if you remember them).

They were tight, clever, and even a broken string didn't slow proceedings down. My favourite of theirs, "Stranded" was thrown away as the third song, but they concluded the set with "End of the Line", another tasty jolly number.

In short, check them out. I just saw them in a small venue with a very few people. I'm sure that won't be possible soon.

Oh yes, they have a website here

Yes indeed, that was a fun gig. ^_^

I went on the stage after and "borrowed" a setlist, and I got the singer/guitarist (his name's Tom) to sign it! :D (I'll scan it in for you)

I love your description of their music B)

I think the bit where the bass player played tambourine (and nearly chopped a certain person's enormous head off with said instrument), and where the drummer played the trumpet were excellent. :rocks:

I took some photos, but I don't think they've turned out very well.

yes! GH was there having my earwax blasted out by Mohair's superloudness. :D

the first support act was just one girl (not dancing) her performance was quite rough though the guitar was passable, 2nd support: awful  (though the bass wasn't too bad)

Mohair was more fun though they could've gone on longer, they took up less time than the 2nd support. The performance was good as were the comments in between while.

I narrowly avoided having my head skimmed off when one of the band threw a tambourine to a one of the support act. At the end the band came down and shook hands with everyone. JohnW ran on stage and nicked the setlist and we got it signed along with my ticket. It was very fun and friendly B)

In case any of you are still interested, (and if you aren't, why not?? :o) I scanned in the setlist... signed by the one and only Tom Billington (guitar/vocals) with a cheap red pen borrowed from the bar. :D

I remember he signed my ticket as well, must scan that when I can find it.

When that guy was first on stage he was wearing a jacket and tie. He took the jacket of after a couple of songs and the tie off during Disarray. After a bit I was thinking 'here comes the shirt taking-off bit' but it never happened. :D Not much of a strip gig then ;)
