It won't ship until December, but to get a grip on exactly how many we should press, we are soliciting holiday pre-orders on TMBG's "Venue Songs" dual disc! The disc is priced at just $15 plus shipping.
The DVD side includes ten original video clips, as well as colorful narration by former literary agent John Hodgman in the role of the Deranged Millionaire. There will be bonus video material including "Damn Good Times," "Bastard Wants to Hit Me," "Experimental Film" (with Homestarrunner), "I'm All You Can Think About" and more.
On the CD side there is over an hour of music- all for the first time on CD. You will receive all the original Venue Song recordings from the 2004 tour, and a set of live recordings from that tour. The 10 studio recordings of the Venue Songs will also be featured. It also compiles a number of audio rarities from last year including "Renew My Subscription," "Love Is Eternity," "Taste the Fame" and more.
This dual disc will probably be commercially released at a later date, and much of the visual material will be shown on the new TMBG website, but we offer it to y'all now to give you a definitive copy of all this fine material in one action-packed disc, just in time for the holiday!
This item is available as a DVD/CD Only. One side is a DVD, the other a CD - Neat!! |

Über picky right here, but the dollar sign goes in front of the number... *winces*
I haven't ordered anything from TMBG for a long, long time. As for the dual disc itself, I probably won't ever get it, but will most likely be exposed to it by the lovely Jen™, AKA LoveJohnX2.

I need that really really badlyyyyy...I'ma ask for it this Christmas.
LoveJohnX2 - September 30, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)
Only if you want to, Doodles. The way you put it made me unsure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Exposure.
Aww..and I'm lovely.

Ah. Just saying that you're usually the way I hear new stuff. Venue songs, live performances, etc.
And yes, you are lovely.

Got the DVD/CD today!!
I already had bought the Venue songs off of TMBG.com, so those aren't new to me. It's these videos..
PICTURES! (I'll try not to go crazy, but trust me..I took about a hundred screen shots of two music videos alone)

Ah yes. Love to the Johns.

I thought the Venue Songs video on the new TMBG website was awesome, but I haven't yet gotten an opportunity to hear any of the new songs.
The only one I'm really interested in hearing is the Orange Peel song, since it was the first time They Might Be Giants were playing anywhere nearby, and I disappointed for weeks after not being able to make it to that particular show.

I like LoveJohns screen shots. Way too clever technology for me to figure out myself!
I just got given Venue Songs as a late Christmas present.
The CD has 46 SONGS!!!! 46!!! I was listening to the intros and thinking hmmm, 17, 18, 19... how many more? And it got up to 46!
They are all great. There are many different musical styles used. My all-time favourite track of all time, ever, has got to be "Renew My Subscription", sung by John Linnell, wonderful inventive lyrics that rhyme, and very depressing, downbeat theme set to happy sounding music... so classic "They" but also wonderful. Couldn't stop singing "Renew my subscription to "Miserable Freakshow Quarterly"" when I walked into church this morning.
I can imagine the video to "Richards on Richards" appearing on MTV... do these songs ever get released as singles or do They think they will never be popular enough? Or have they been released as singles and I'm too thick to know about it?
I love the video to "Asbury Park", with the still shots (see above). It's very clever. The other videos, the animated ones, I'm not so keen on.
I haven't listened to it all to death yet though, but I would say this is about 26.9 % better than "The Spine" album. Based on early reviews. If you haven't bought it yet - do! :)
