fingertipsjjddm - March 7, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
Check this out!!

Amazon.com

Does anyone know anything about this???

mrhorrible - March 7, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
All I can be sure of is its on Rhino Records and coming out 03 May, 2005.

I wonder if its anything to do with the film "The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy" which opens 4 days before? Now that WOULD be sweet!

mrhorrible - March 7, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)
Sorry, had to merge these two.

Don't think its the tribute album, as that was going to be on MultiMedia Three records, but it is possible.

fingertipsjjddm - March 7, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
I doubt it. I hope not. As for the Hitchikers, I doubt it tooo, though I am sooo excited for the movie. I find it odd though that ford prefect is black, thats just not how i pictured him. oh well. Did you hear that Alan Rickman (professor snape) is the voice of Marvin. That should be hilarious.

mrhorrible - March 7, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
Rickman as Marvin is ideal. I did always picture Ford as this superfly Shaft type of character, so its not a shock to me that Mos Def got the job (and he is superb anyway, so I'm looking forward to that). Zaphod I always saw as two heads side by side, but hey, who's counting?

If it *is* related (hopes it is - similar name of album and name of film with a few days of each other is tenuous) wouldn't that rule?

fingertipsjjddm - March 8, 2005 01:39 AM (GMT)
That would rock, but the likeliness is like negative 25%

LoveJohnX2 - March 8, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
*Puts some money aside to buy it, whatever it is, granted that it's something good*

:P

tmbg_whoa - March 8, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
*gasp*

I can't wait!

fingertipsjjddm - March 8, 2005 01:42 PM (GMT)
I can't wait till we get more information. I know they were planning to come out with two more old kid, young adult books with simon and schuster, maybe its related to that.

mrhorrible - March 8, 2005 10:19 PM (GMT)
Ok. So I emailed Rhino records about it. Here is their response:

It's a single disc priced at $11.98. I don't have a track list available at this time. Please stay tuned to www.rhino.com for any further developments.

fingertipsjjddm - March 9, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Wow, nice of them to be helpful. Hahaha. Oh well, thanks for trying.

Annie-Mae - March 9, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)

mrhorrible - March 9, 2005 10:22 AM (GMT)
It's obviously top secret.

fingertipsjjddm - March 9, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Grrr. I hate top secret stuff.

mrhorrible - March 9, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)

LoveJohnX2 - March 10, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
Sounds lame though.

mrhorrible - March 10, 2005 09:13 AM (GMT)
I suspect its going to be stuff pulled from Then: The Early Years and the Dial-a-Song album.

OOOOHHHH Best of!!! How many discs? ^_^

mrhorrible - March 10, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
See earlier post with the Rhino reply.

fingertipsjjddm - March 10, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
But 20 years of is a best of... we really don't need another one.

Doodles - March 10, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
It might be just a compilation of their songs that have become really popular, such as Birdhouse and Ana Ng... Y'know, a sort of cream of the crop thing. But that's just what I'm guessing.

fingertipsjjddm - March 11, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
I guess, i just don't see the point in such an album, but i'll still buy it.

Doodles - March 11, 2005 01:59 AM (GMT)
It might just be a clever plot to lure more fans in. A rouse, to attract attention with all these great songs. Get that hook in there so they can reel you in.

Silver2D - March 11, 2005 03:34 AM (GMT)
Maybe it'll be a more off-the wall track list that DAS....

So would I, I am a completist.

Although I haven't got the ABCs yet... :(

fingertipsjjddm - March 11, 2005 01:17 PM (GMT)
You sinner. ABC's is great. Make me laugh a bit more than it probably should.

mrhorrible - March 22, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
From Billboard magazine

They Might Be Giants will be the subject of their first anthology on "A User's Guide to They Might Be Giants: Melody, Fidelity, Quantity." Due May 3 via Elektra/Rhino, the package features 29 songs packed onto a single disc, including late '80s/early '90s staples such as "Purple Toupee," "Particle Man," "Birdhouse in Your Soul," "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" and "Ana Ng."

Also rounded up is "Boss of Me," the band's theme song for the Fox comedy "Malcolm in the Middle," plus the track "Dr. Evil" from "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me."

On the heels of last month's release of the family-oriented CD/DVD "Here Comes the ABCs," the group is playing a handful of in-store performances this month in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

So it's another Dial-a-song?

mrhorrible - March 22, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
Basically disc one on the cheap, with Boss of Me, Birdhouse and a couple fo others.

fingertipsjjddm - March 23, 2005 03:58 AM (GMT)
i'm not seeing the point of this album??

HayisforHorses - March 23, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
