Title: John Henry and Factory Showroom
Description: Album merge
gianthead - January 4, 2005 04:12 PM (GMT)
If John H and Factory Showroom had been one album (yes I know you like them the way they are now :D ) which tracks would you absolutely have salvaged and which would've been dispensable (not to not be written, just to not be on the album)?
What do you think it wouldv'e been called? :)

I like your choice! But I would keep Window and I can hear you. Window is very short (that's why I still like it) and would easily fit in withuot taking up too much space. I Can Hear You is irritating in it's wax-cylinder version, but I heard a live one once, it was great. They should put that version on John Factory!

Tracklist, not in the right order yet:

4. Why must I be sad
5. Spy
6. No one knows my plan
7. Destination moon
8. Self called nowhere
9. Meet James Ensor
10.Thermostat
11.Window
12.Out of jail
13.Till My Head Falls Off
14.How Can I Sing Like a Girl?
15.Metal Detector
16.New York City

19.End of the tour
gianthead - January 5, 2005 01:56 PM (GMT)
You sure all that will fit? I know it's only 19 tracks, but have you summed up their lengths to see if they'll fit an 80min CD?

| Johns' Showroom? :P |
Henry's Factory

I almost agree with JohnW's list, but maybe skip I Can Hear You and Meet James Ensor. Try: O Do Not Forsake Me and Dirt bike instead.
I disagree with anyone who wants to leave me off.

That is somewhat dominated by John Henry.
To put on (in no particular order):
Snail Shell
Sleeping in the flowers
I should be allowed to think
O Do not forsake me (genius!!)
Meet James Ensor
End of the tour
A self called nowhere
Metal Detector
New York City (of course!!)
Pet Name
I can hear you
Of course that would be too short, so any other would be good except the following.
To miss off:
S-E-X-X-Y
The bells are ringing
Unrelated thing
Dirt Bike
Stomp Box
The rest are good enough, the first list is my essentials from the two CD's, the second my "I usually flick past these".
I'll get lynched for S-E-X-X-Y probably. But since when did I care?
klimdeeni - January 6, 2005 10:20 AM (GMT)
here's a simple solution
*makes 2 CD set*
HOORAY I WIN!!!!
*closes out of topic and never looks back in fear of being wrong*

sadly I don't know either album well enough to pick wich songs should go or stay.(I know John H. more than Factory cause I've heard J.H.) but some songs I love should stay on only cause not alot of people said they should:
Sleeping in the Flowers
Subliminal
Meet James Ensore
Till My Head Falls Off
New York City
James K. Polk
Spirraling Shape
Stomp Box
Extra Savoir-Faire
...and some of the others to throw in the mix
As for teh name TMBG usually wants something that's differnt, not to normal, and they wont' get sick of after a while. I'm sure that you can still use the names John H. and/or Factory Showroom and pretend the other didn't exsist (or release those extra songs later making a bad album) but I would call it: Road Closure....dont' ask why.

How would you know that's the method they use to name their albums?
Generally, an artist/band names an album whatever title they see fit, and rarely gives thought to whether it's "normal" or not. It's what they feel it should be; something that they feel sums up the entire length.

:shocking: Does'nt anyone else think that 'no one knows my plan' IS the absolute best track on JOHN HENRY then?????????????????? :machinegun:
:machinegun:

No. But that's a good point.

I think I read that on a website somewhere or it's on Gigantic...I'm not quite sure but I wouldn't say it if I thought it was faulse.
Maybe it was the promotional video to Appallo 18...I don't knwo anymore...it'll come to me.
