Title: Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head
Description: Which ones? How often? Why?
Doodles - October 10, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
We all get songs stuck in our heads, some more than others. Here's a chance to share your frequent musical accompaniment that follows you around during your day. We could also try to figure out why it gets stuck in there, like an addictive melody perhaps.
The TMBG song that always gets stuck in my head is Mosh Momken Abadon. I think it's due to the fact that it's just an instrumental. I'm a sucker for those.
LoveJohnX2 - October 10, 2004 03:46 AM (GMT)
Okay. Well, here we go. These are the ones I can think about off the top of my head right now.
"The water runnin down that pipe..looks like a snake to me" I've been singing that line on and off for about 24 hours now.
Montana gets stuck in my head. During long days at Walmart I stand around singing that one.
I think the all time record is still held by "Best of country spin-the-dial" That was stuck in my head..for..soooooooooo long!
IF YOU DON'T LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC, :censored: YOU!
The Mighty Big Antes - October 10, 2004 04:46 PM (GMT)
I have many TMBG songs stuck in my head, but I mostly get SenSurround. Currently however, I have Shooting Star in my head. I hate it when I get a song stuck in my head and I don't know it all! :censored:
P.S: That is my favorite lyric from "Best of Spin the Country Dial" :D .
Doodles - October 10, 2004 08:12 PM (GMT)
As for a song that actually has lyrics that gets stuck in my head, it would have to be either Maine (okay, not technically a TMBG song, but it's Linnell so whatever) or Where Your Eyes Don't Go. I have a tendency to shout "Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of" at people during school.
LoveJohnX2 - October 10, 2004 11:11 PM (GMT)
I get that line stuck in my head too!! Sheesh..
Right now I'm singing over and over "Every seashell has a story to tell if you're listening.." and my mom told me to shut up.
;) Awwwwwww!! How sweet of her.
LoveJohnX2 - October 11, 2004 06:38 AM (GMT)
I jammed Factory Showroom on the way to work and back today..and I sang this line all day long:
"Every sea shell has a story to tell if you're listening" That's funny 'cause I keep singing it "Shea shell" or "Sea sell". And then I laugh at myself for being stupid.
And right now I have Spiriling Shape stuck in my head. Which makes sense, because I almost ALWAYS try to get Rocket Ship, the early version of that song, stuck in my head. Yes..I try to do it. I love it. It works too. It's so easy to get stuck.
Johnw - October 11, 2004 08:30 AM (GMT)
There's so many... probably "You'll Miss Me" and "Spiralling Shape" get most stuck ^_^
I really like Rocket Ship as well :music:

Museum of idiots, ana ng.......
LoveJohnX2 - October 12, 2004 03:40 PM (GMT)
As my hair was getting cut..I was singing "Where did your long hair gooo?" from Caroline, No.
klimdeeni - October 12, 2004 03:41 PM (GMT)

LoveJohnX2 - October 12, 2004 04:13 PM (GMT)
I highly doubt you have EVERY TMBG song in your head 24/7/365 at the same time.
Johnw - October 12, 2004 04:18 PM (GMT)
Did you ever read his intro topic?
klimdeeni - October 12, 2004 04:22 PM (GMT)

LoveJohnX2 - October 12, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah..that's what I thought..
klimdeeni - October 12, 2004 06:12 PM (GMT)
lol
i just mean that there is allways a song in my head, and it's allways tmbg. and it's never just one certain song. it's differant songs each time.
Doodles - October 12, 2004 06:29 PM (GMT)
If you had every song stuck in your head at the same time, I think it would explode. There are sooooo many songs, not even counting the ones that never got put on a studio album.
LoveJohnX2 - October 12, 2004 08:20 PM (GMT)
But no one in particular or more than others?
SweetAfton23 - October 13, 2004 05:20 AM (GMT)
What happens to me a lot is when something goes on in my day that reminds me of a TMBG lyric, and then the WHOLE song follows suit.
I can't tell you how much "Why Does The Sun Shine" and "Minimum Wage" have been stuck in my head for said reasons. Anytime someone mentions the sun, I'm like "NOOO--Aw, dammit!"
Blitz - October 13, 2004 06:30 AM (GMT)
Right now, End Of The Tour is stuck in my head.
"The engagements are booked to the end of the world so we'll meet at the end of the tour."
But Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head and Sensurround get stuck in my head a lot too.

Ah yes. Good 'ole SenSurround. That's a frequent visitor to my head as well, now that I think about it.
I actually went out and bought the S-E-X-X-Y [#2] EP that SenSurround is on because I had it stuck in my head for about three weeks straight. I was going nuts.
LoveJohnX2 - October 13, 2004 11:47 PM (GMT)
Someone please tell me why I am the only one in the world who hasn't heard sensurround? I see people mention it ALL THE TIME!

There are many reasons
1. You don't have the S-E-X-X-Y single.
2. You don't listen to TMBG Clock Radio.
3. You don't have the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers Movie soundtrack. (Faster version)
4. Your not trying hard enough! Okay that's not an actual reason.
LoveJohnX2 - October 14, 2004 12:16 AM (GMT)
1. No.
2. It doesn't work on my computer
3. NO!
4. Maybe. I dunno.

I get Renew my Subscription in my head quite a bit.
Especially the line that states
"To whatever that thing is that makes the carpet stop turning into snakes"
I love that line.

I haven't heard it.
And I have the clock radio.
LoveJohnX2 - October 14, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
I love when I hear Renew my Subscription on the dial-a-song.
I also like the LMNO song.

I haven't heard it. And I have the clock radio.
|
When I listen to the Clock Radio, I get it all the time...
"When I was only a zygote, I still remember the time, when there was nothing to know or to think about except the sound of my mind, and the sound from outside..."
Jen could come over to my house and I could play the S-E-X-X-Y single for her...good songs on there, every one of them.

You'd have to have a giant head to fit it all in.
By the way I've never heard of SenSurround let alone heard it!
Banana - October 15, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
Pennsylvania is in my head. How fitting, considering that's the state I live in.
SweetAfton23 - October 16, 2004 06:46 AM (GMT)
And then there's Alienation's for the Rich on the the Dial-A-Song.
Recorder solos.
Woot.
gianthead - October 16, 2004 08:37 PM (GMT)
:music: The water running down that pipe looks like a snake to me. :music:
That's so freaking stuck in my head, everyone within a hundred miles knows it. The other song stuck in my giant head is REM so doesn't count. :machinegun:

Spy - November 4, 2004 04:57 PM (GMT)
For my stuck-in-the head chart, I pick:
Moving to the Sun, which I have recently met...
93 miles times a million more
Quite a trip we planned :music:
and Ondine, that drives me nuts as well...
On-(thump)dine(thump)
was(thump) here(thump)....
Worst of all for getting stuck in the head... South Carolina
Lift that fork, eat that snail
Garcon summoned, have a new cocktail
But very good for marching to and keeping your spirits up on a long day at work. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how useful they are for that kind of thing. Unless I have, of course.
Like this one: It's a long long rope they use to hang you soon I hope, and I wonder why this hasn't happened, why, why, why...! That way you don't actually injure anyone. :machinegun:

I notice that songs with lot of drumming tend to get stuck most easily. :rocks:

Like Whistling in the Dark.
:music: There's only one thing that I know how to do well and I've often been told that you can only do what you know how to do well and that's be you be what're like be like yourself and so I'm having a wonderful time but I rather be whistling in the dark :music:
Doodles - November 5, 2004 12:18 AM (GMT)
I'm on about week three of having "No Answer" stuck in my head. I don't know what it is about it that got it so firmly wedged in there, but it's stuck pretty tightly... It might be the way Linnell sings it, or it could be a... subliminal message. Ooo, spooky.
"And she's got no answer for that..."
Abby - December 6, 2004 06:50 PM (GMT)
The other day it was Hopeless Bleak Despair, all day because I was so stressed and lonely and depressed about my kid and his performance at school, and I don't have any real life friends who I can talk to about this during the day, so I was getting depressed and my in-head stereo takes things very literally and if I am despairing my in-head stereo puts on 'Hopeless Bleak Despair'.
I actually think that despite the bleakness of the lyrics it is a positive, optimistic song because it says one day the despair just disappears. That's what I hope, I think about this song and hope to feel better soon. My moods are very up and down, I can be in the doldrums one day and very happy the next. Today I am pretty content with my lot. (Before you all start worrying I am some sort of manic depressive!)
Spy - December 6, 2004 08:18 PM (GMT)
Don't worry, we aren't worrying, we're all too concerned about our own moods.
I have Out Of Jail stuck in my head; when I couldn't get hold of the CD I was playing the clip on Allmusic.com over and over.

It only disappeared when he died and went to hell, the despair went to heaven without him.
Johnw - December 7, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
Currently At the Astor-eye-ay is really stuck in my head.
:music: It's a secret between everyone and us :music:
