Title: Misprints
Description: :O
Banana - July 14, 2004 01:28 PM (GMT)
did anybody notice that in the Inserts for The Spine, there are a lot of misprints?
i think it might be some kind of code. some of them are the kind that nobdy would let slip buy. :ph43r:
gianthead - July 22, 2004 10:30 AM (GMT)
slip buy? is that code for slip by ?:P
occidere - July 31, 2004 05:53 AM (GMT)
ike waht?
I mean yeah some stuff is mixed up... but i think like they wrote the lyrics got those sent to the record place then they recorded the lsongs and decided to change some stuff (I don't think it is a code but it could be just they didn't have enough time after recording and before the album release to resend the lyrics and have to then reprint the lyrics... (it takes time) so personally I don't think there is a code...
or is there? <_<

codes are more fun than mistakes because you can interpret code B)

yeah you can try i am just saying you are probably reading into it...
( it think that is the saying when someone is just like... you know like streching somethign or... i coan't explain it... nvm )

I love interpreting songs lyrics! that may be why i like tmbg so much. there are usually several explanations for each which don't quite fit  you can debate it for hours to hammer out the 'true' story!

and once you think you got it the Johns come in ad are like, "no no that isn't right, we meant it to mean..."
klimdeeni - August 5, 2004 05:23 AM (GMT)
actually, in most of their cd's there are misprints
it's because they make the jacket before recording and then they sing it and sometime's forget exactly how it goes. if you think about it, in au contraire, the cd jacket makes more sense than the song. when rosevelt was crying about his outfit saying it was ugly, then john says, hate to rain on your parade, but in the cd jacket, it says, hate to controdict (<----spelling slaughter) you, that makes more sense. then he does the opposite in the card game part. he says contro..blah blah....you, and the book said rain on your parade. which makes a bit more sense.
occidere - August 22, 2004 01:10 PM (GMT)
yeah...
I think they decided to change it though...
I don't think they just learned it wrong
LoveJohnX2 - August 24, 2004 03:14 AM (GMT)
All I know is that they spelled "Weinkauf" wrong. I think it was spelled "Wienkauf" instead. Alot of people mentioned that when the CD came out.
gianthead - August 31, 2004 04:18 PM (GMT)
I don't think they learn stuff 'by heart' usually. :music: Their singing and acting is pretty spontaneous, that's what makes them so lively and interesting. It doesn't really matter if they're not word perfect, nobody loses anyhting by it. ^_^

For "Flood" they have some lyrics to "Road Movie To Berlin" in the linear notes that weren't sung. They orignally wrote them but then decided the song shouldn't be that long.
gianthead - September 1, 2004 09:24 PM (GMT)
The Johns know that their best bet is short songs, quality over quantity.
LoveJohnX2 - September 2, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
Perhaps. They did say once that their early songs were so short because it was before they knew how to make a bridge.
Once on a message board (I dunno who took the time to do this) a person did took the average length of each of the John's main studio albums and found out that it was the beginning CD's had the shortest songs..but they kept getting longer from CD to CD until about maybe..John Henry or Factory Showroom is where it peaked with the longest songs..and then it went back to smaller songs on the albums.
Sorry if that didn't make much sense. I didn't know how to explain it better.
gianthead - September 3, 2004 10:37 AM (GMT)
I think I get what you mean, they went through phases.
^_^ short and simple (no insult)
 more complex, longer
B) short, but sophisticated
LoveJohnX2 - September 3, 2004 02:43 PM (GMT)
Yeah, totally. There first stuff IS very simple and still was very cool..so I know what you mean that it's not an insult. And their new stuff is cool now too.
That's why when people complain that their new music isn't as good as the old stuff..I feel like it's all good it's own way because it's different. It's kinda hard to compare. Bands gotta grow and evolve..who wants to hear the same song over and over again?
Then they would be like Blink 182. No offense to anyone who likes them 'cause..I used to. But, you gotta admit..all their songs sound the same.
Anyway, yeah. TMBG. Let's wait and see what the next phase is!
The Mighty Big Antes - September 29, 2004 11:56 PM (GMT)
I know in the lyrics for Thunderbird it says "before you crawl you have to learn to fall" while Linnell sings "before you fall you have to learn to crawl". There is something else in Flood with Birdhouse too, but I can't think of it.

Yes, on a live version I have Them singing:
"You said you were the king of liars
And I believed you and called you sire
But I realize now that I have been deceived"
I much prefer that verse, it makes the song feel more like it means something.

That's too good to waste, they should have missed something else instead. -_-
